Context

Adopted upon independence from France in 1977, making Djibouti one of the last African colonies to gain independence. Strategically located at the mouth of the Red Sea on the Horn of Africa, Djibouti is home to multiple foreign military bases. The anthem was originally written in Somali, reflecting the country's primary linguistic identity.
