Context

Adopted in 2002, replacing the previous anthem 'Viva, Viva a FRELIMO' which directly praised the ruling party. The new anthem, written by Salomao J. Manhica, focuses on national identity and freedom rather than party politics. It is one of the newest anthems in Africa.
