Context

Adopted in 1968 upon independence from Australia. The lyrics were written by Margaret Hendrie, a Nauruan, with music by Laurence Henry Hicks. Nauru is one of the smallest countries in the world, a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean with a population of around 10,000.
