Context

Written by Leonhard Widmer with music by Alberich Zwyssig in 1841. It replaced 'Rufst du, mein Vaterland' (which used the British 'God Save the King' melody) in 1981. The anthem exists in four official versions corresponding to Switzerland's four national languages: German, French, Italian, and Romansh.

Lyrics
