Context

Adopted upon Morocco's independence from France in 1956. The music was originally composed by a French military bandmaster Leo Morgan during the French protectorate, while the Arabic lyrics were written by poet Ali Squalli Houssaini. The anthem reflects Morocco's identity as a constitutional monarchy and its pride in the country's long history of sovereignty.
