- 1. Lorsque la Barbade est devenue une republique en 2021, il y a eu un debat sur le changement d'hymne, mais il a ete conserve car ses paroles ne font aucune reference a la monarchie britannique.
- 2. L'hymne a ete selectionne par un concours national organise a l'approche de l'independance, battant plusieurs autres soumissions.
- 3. Irving Burgie a gagne environ 6 millions de dollars en redevances pour ses chansons calypso pour Belafonte, mais il a fait don de l'hymne a la Barbade et n'a jamais percu de redevances pour celui-ci.

ÉditorialEcrit par Irving Burgie, un auteur-compositeur barbadien-americain, avec une musique de C. Van Roland Edwards. L'hymne a ete adopte lors de l'independance du Royaume-Uni le 30 novembre 1966. Burgie est egalement celebre pour avoir ecrit plusieurs des plus grands succes calypso de Harry Belafonte, dont 'Day-O (Banana Boat Song)'.
