কী আঁচল বিছায়েছ বটের মূলে, নদীর কূলে কূলে।
মা, তোর মুখের বাণী আমার কানে লাগে সুধার মতো,

মা, তোর বদনখানি মলিন হলে, ও মা, আমি নয়নজলে ভাসি॥

Bangladesh
- 1. Only the first ten lines of the original poem are used as the anthem; the full work has 25 lines and paints a vivid seasonal portrait of the Bengali landscape.
- 2. The anthem celebrates Bengal's natural beauty and the singer's love for the motherland, addressed as a mother; it makes no mention of religion, government, or military strength.
- 3. On Independence Day, 26 March 2014, 254,537 people sang the anthem together at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka, setting the Guinness World Record for the most people singing a national anthem simultaneously.
Pakistan
- 1. The tune's first performance at an official event came on 1 March 1950, when a Pakistan Navy band played it, still without words, at Karachi airport for the visiting Shah of Iran
- 2. The anthem's playing time is about 80 seconds
- 3. Its vocabulary is so heavily Persian that it is sometimes said only one word, 'kā' (of), is Urdu; the Urdu scholar Rauf Parekh rejects this, pointing out that although most of its words were borrowed from Arabic or Persian, every one of them is in common Urdu use
